Woman stabbed while sitting on a bench in Fresno, police say. Search still on for suspect

A woman was stabbed early Sunday in Fresno while sitting on a bench, with the assailant fleeing after the attack.

Fresno Police Department officers responded around 5:45 a.m. to East Tulare and South Chestnut avenues on reports of a stabbing victim.

Officers found the woman had been stabbed multiple times, police said. She was taken to the hospital, but police said her injuries don’t appear to be life threatening.

Police said the woman was sitting on a bench when a man came up to her and stabbed her for unknown reasons.

Officers checked the area for witnesses but didn’t locate anyone.
