Woman killed in crash east of Clovis identified. Other driver faces manslaughter charge

A woman killed in a fatal collision Monday east of Clovis was identified Tuesday by the Fresno County Coroner.

The victim, Jennifer Ellis, 45, of Clovis, was injured while driving north on Minnewawa Avenue when her Honda was broadsided while crossing International Avenue by an eastbound Mercedes Sedan.

Ellis died at the scene and two children, 8 and 10 years old, were rushed to a hospital after the crash.

The Mercedes driver, Wallowa Bates, 22, was also injured.

Bates was hospitalized and subsequently booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter. She was later released on a bail of $10,000.
