Customer shoots employee at retail store, Fresno police say. Victim in critical condition

A 19-year-old employee was in critical condition Thursday after being shot by a customer at a retail store, Fresno police said.

Some kind of interaction between the victim and a man about 9 p.m. Wednesday preceded the shooting at MB Fashion on Fresno Street and Ashlan Avenue, Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said.

It was not clear if the two knew each other or if there was a fight, she said, but the shooter fired a gun at the employee, striking him in the upper body multiple times, police said.

The man ran off, and police are looking for him, she said.

The employee was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was in critical condition as of Thursday morning, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
