Four wounded during barrage of gunshots. Where Fresno police found the victims
Four people were taken to a hospital with wounds suffered when at least 25 shots were fired in a central Fresno disturbance Monday night.
The shooting happened just after 6 p.m. when the Fresno Police Department received a ShotSpotter electronic surveillance system report of 16 shots fired in the area of Normal Avenue and Mayfair Drive, Lt. Skye Leibee said. ShotSpotter recorded nine more shots in the area as officers were en route to the neighborhood east of First Street and north of McKinley Avenue.
Officers arrived but found no one in the area. They immediately began canvasing the neighborhood.
Moments later, four shooting victims, one woman and three men, arrived at Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno arriving in two separate vehicles. Leibee said officers determined that the four victims were all involved in the shooting at Normal and Mayfair.
One victim was struck in the face by a ricocheting bullet. All victims were in stable condition.
According to Leibee, officers learned that the shooting happened after a disturbance in the area involving 10 people. Two of the people in the disturbance pulled out firearms and began shooting.
No suspect information was immediately available.
