Fresno elementary school placed on temporary lockdown after two seen running with gun

A Fresno elementary school was placed on temporary lockdown after reports of two people running around with a gun, police said.

Leavenworth Elementary School was on lockdown just after 1 p.m. when a passer-by called to say two people had a gun and started jumping fences in the area of East Thomas and North Rowell avenues.

Detectives were driving to the area and saw the two running. Officers set up a perimeter and found the two who were detained, police said.

An 18-year-old man, who police believe is in a gang, was arrested and will be booked in Fresno County jail. Police said the man was on probation.

The 17-year-old was not arrested.

Officers later found a revolver in a bush.

Officers were searching the area to see if they could locate anything else, but nothing was found.
