Deadly week in Fresno: Police investigating three homicides from 36-hour span
A man who was shot Thursday in central Fresno later died, police announced Monday, bringing the city’s homicide count last week to three.
There have been 65 homicides in Fresno for the year.
Police said around 9 p.m. Thursday, the Fresno Police Department’s ShotSpotter electronic audio surveillance system detected five rounds fired in the 2600 block of Robinson Avenue, near the intersection of Pleasant and Dakota avenues.
As officers were en route, they received reports of a shooting victim in the area.
Officers arrived and found 37-year-old Daedren Johnson in the driveway of a residence. He had been shot once.
Johnson, a father of eight, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died. No suspect information was made immediately available. The motive for the shooting is not known.
Homicide detectives are investigating two more homicides that happened Friday night and early Saturday morning in southeast Fresno. The crimes were only separated by a few hours and a few miles.
The victims in those shootings have been identified as 29-year old Jose Palomares and 38-year-old Emilio Marez both from Fresno.
