Update: Clovis murder-suicide victim and suspect identified by coroner’s office

Clovis police are investigating a murder suicide that happened Thursday night. A woman and a male suspect died in the incident.

Spokesman Jim Munro said officers went to the 1800 block of Los Altos Avenue, near Tollhouse Road and Fowler Avenue, about 11:30 p.m., where they discovered the body of a woman identified as Anna Richards-Anderson, 38, of Clovis who had been shot in the head. Despite life-saving measures, she died at a hospital.

Officers identified a suspect as Cory Anderson, 40, of Clovis after speaking to witnesses, and went to the 1100 block of Polson Avenue, about a mile west of the first scene, where they heard a gunshot as they were surrounding a home. They found Anderson in the back yard, where he had fatally shot himself.

Munro said investigators found the man and woman were in a previous dating relationship and the crime was a domestic violence situation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 559-324-2800.
