Man found on northeast Fresno sidewalk suffered fatal stab wound

Police are investigating a killing in southeast Fresno after a man was found on a sidewalk with what proved to be a fatal stab wound.

Just before 5 p.m., officers received reports of a stabbing victim in the area of San Bruno Avenue and Fourth Street, Fresno Police Lt. Bill Dooley said.

Officers arrived and found a man stabbed in his torso. The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

During an investigation, officers found a blood trail that led inside a home where they believe the stabbing took place. It was unknown if the victim lived in the home, Dooley said.

Officers were trying to locate witnesses but said they had no information on a suspect.

Figures on the number of homicides in the city this year and at a similar point in 2019 were not immediately available.
