Suspects toss guns out of SUV during high-speed chase in central Fresno, police say
A high-speed chase in central Fresno ended with in an SUV crashing into a railroad crossing signal and guns tossed out of the moving vehicle during the pursuit, Fresno police said.
According to Lt. Bill Dooley, officers received a report just before 6:30 p.m. of man in a SUV and pointing a gun at someone in another vehicle in the area of Shields and Valentine Avenues.
Officers found the suspected vehicle with four people inside and attempted to stop the SUV.
The driver, however, instead led officers in a high-speed chase onto Highway 99 going south.
While on the highway, occupants of the vehicle threw two rifles and a hand gun out of the windows of the car, police said.
The suspects then exited the highway at Olive Avenue and went east.
That’s when the vehicle crashed into a railroad crossing signal at Olive and Golden State Boulevard, causing the vehicle to flip on its side.
All four men were arrested.
Olive Avenue at Golden State remains closed as officers continue their investigation.
