Man shot multiple times in central Fresno. Here’s what police know so far

A man in his 20s suffered multiple gunshot wounds Saturday afternoon in central Fresno, with police left with few immediate clues on what led up to the shooting or who else was involved.

Officers received a ShotSpotter alert just before 3 p.m. in the 2500 block of West Dakota Avenue, Fresno Police Lt. Stephen Viveros said.

When they arrived, they found a man in his 20s lying on the shoulder of the roadway and unresponsive, Viveros said.

He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery and was in critical condition.

There was no description of a suspect nor had any witnesses come forward, Viveros said. There were no calls of a disturbance prior to the shooting, he said.

Officers were canvassing the area for surveillance video.

Anyone with information is asked to call Fresno police at 559-621-7000.
