Man shot after a fight with two robbers at a motel in central Fresno, police say

A man in his 50s was shot in a motel room in central Fresno during an apparent strong-arm robbery, police say.

Police received a 911 call from the Travelodge on Blackstone Avenue north of Dakota Avenue reporting a gunshot victim just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Police and first-responders found the victim with a single gunshot wound to his lower torso. The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.

Witnesses and the victim told police that the door was kicked in by two men who forced their way in.

Upon entry, the men robbed the victim and a fight ensued before he was shot, police said.

Lt.. Bill Dooley said there is surveillance video that shows the attack. Police are looking for more video of the two men fleeing the area.
