Southeast Fresno hotel evacuated as police search for armed carjacking suspects
Fresno police on Monday afternoon evacuated a hotel in southeast Fresno as they searched for two armed carjacking suspects.
Police received a reports of a carjacking involving two men with guns just before 2 p.m., Capt. Anthony Martinez said.
A short time later, a police helicopter located the vehicle driving erratically. Officers began to chase the vehicle when it ended up at East Calwa Avenue and South Ninth Street.
Two suspects were seen running into the Calwa Hotel.
Officers then worked on getting the people that live in the hotel out before making contact with the suspects.
