Police chase ends with a second death connected to Visalia murder suspect

A suspect in a Visalia murder was taken into custody on Friday night after a chase that ended with another fatality, police said.

Barry Tarrell Dantzler, the suspect in the Tuesday murder of Heather Sloan, was located around 7 p.m. near a Motel 6 in Tulare. Dantzler, 30, fled from police, losing control of his vehicle and colliding with a utility pole. The car then rolled over and into an adult female on a bicycle.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. She has not yet been identified by authorities.

Dantzler, who was taken into custody by Visalia patrol and violent crimes unit officers with assistance from the Tulare Police Department, will be charged with homicide, home invasion and felony evading, as well as the death of the bicyclist.

Sloan, 37, was found dead inside her home in the 1500 block of South Thomas Court.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Martinez at 559-713-4156 or the anonymous tip line at 559-713-4738.
