Man on his way to get food shot in the face and chased in Fresno neighborhood, police say
Numerous shots were fired in an east-central Fresno neighborhood as one car chased another Tuesday night, leaving a man wounded in his face.
It happened around 9:30 p.m.
Lt. Tim Tietjen said the victim told police he was on his way to get food while driving through a neighborhood near East Shirley and North Fedora avenues – west of Fowler Avenue and north of Shields Avenue – when a Nissan Sentra pulled up next to him and opened fire.
The man sped off and tried to flee from the Sentra, but the suspects continued to follow and shoot at him.
The victim eventually managed to sneak away to an apartment complex near the Fowler and Shields intersection and called 911.
Tietjen said the victim suffered gunshot wounds to the face and lower torso and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. He was listed in stable condition.
Tietjen added that two homes were struck by bullets, likely unintentionally, and that the neighborhood streets were littered with shell casings.
