Detectives are investigating a possible murder after a dead body was found Thursday morning near Corcoran.

The body, which has not been identified, was found just after 10:30 a.m. near a ponding basin near Avenue 120, east of Highway 43. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

“It is unknown if this is a murder, but it is being treated like one for now,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman Ashley Ritchie said Thursday afternoon. “Detectives are still on scene processing evidence.”

Ritchie said the body appears to be that of an adult Hispanic man between the age of 30 and 50. The victim’s identity and cause of death will be released after an autopsy is completed later this week.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office at 559-733-6218.
