After month-long hunt, suspect arrested in Fresno burglary with mom and child in home
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into and ransacking a home in southeast Fresno while a mother and a child huddled in a bathroom.
Kurtis Chappell was taken into custody nearly a month after detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said he broke into the house on South Fowler and East Jensen avenues. He also allegedly pointed a gun at the woman’s husband before driving away with another woman, identified later as 22-year-old Keoni Wyrick.
Wyrick had been waiting in a car while Chappell was in the house, detectives said. She was later arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Chappell had remained at large until his arrest Wednesday. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail and burglary charges have been filed by the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, the sheriff’s office said.
