‘Sadistic’ details emerge as DA charges Corcoran prisoner accused of murdering cellmate
A convicted killer accused of murdering his cellmate at Corcoran State Prison was charged Wednesday by the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, which laid out graphic details related to the killing.
Prosecutors announced four charges against Jaime Osuna, accused of beheading Luis Romero, who was serving a life sentence for second-degree murder.
The DA’s complaint alleges Osuna cut or disabled Romero’s tongue, eye, nose, ear and lip “to cause cruel and extreme pain and suffering for the purpose of revenge, extortion, persuasion and for a sadistic purpose.”
Osuna was charged with murder, torture, mayhem and being in possession of a weapon. The killing was reported by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on March 9.
Osuna is scheduled to appear in Kings County Superior Court Thursday. If convicted, he faces the possibility of death penalty or life in prison, which he was already serving after a prior murder conviction.
The Bakersfield Californian reported that Osuna, who goes by the nickname “Lokito,” was convicted of the 2011 killing of Yvette Pena in Bakersfield.
