Suspect in attempted homicide in custody after chase through Fresno

A suspect in an attempted homicide is in custody after leading Fresno County sheriff's deputies on a pursuit through Fresno on Tuesday.

David Brown, 40, was identified as a suspect in an attempted homicide earlier Tuesday morning on MacDonough and Belmont avenues near Sanger, said Fresno County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tony Botti.

A little after 5 p.m., officers attempted to stop Brown in his vehicle near Gettysburg and Sunnyside avenues in Clovis, but he refused and led officers in a 10-minute pursuit that eventually ended at Bullard Avenue and Fresno Street in northeast Fresno.

Brown was attempting to cut across the parking lot of a gas station at the intersection and was pulling on to Bullard going east when an officer used his vehicle to push Brown's vehicle into the side of a tow truck, causing him to be pinned in his car, Botti said.

A woman was in the passenger seat of Brown's vehicle during the pursuit, but is not facing any charges, Botti said.

Brown is facing charges of evading police, possible assault with a weapon and attempted murder.
