Fresno police have arrested a man suspected of involvement in a shooting that left a man with a major injury in central Fresno.

Police identified Bobby Gonzales, a Bulldog gang member, as the suspect in the shooting Sunday.

The shooting happened just after 7:30 p.m. near Mayfair Drive and Normal Avenue, north of the intersection of McKinley Avenue and First Street.

Fresno police said on Tuesday that detectives from the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium Tactical Team were conducting a gang suppression operation in the Mayfair District when they encountered Gonzales in the 3400 black of East Normal.

He was later booked in the Fresno County Jail in connection with the shooting and a probation violation.
