The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner’s Unit is asking the public for help locating the family of a Fresno man fatally struck by a vehicle.

Alejandro Gallardo, 42, of Fresno, was hit on July 1 while walking in a marked crosswalk on the Highway 99 off-ramp at Olive Avenue, deputies said.

Gallardo was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Despite searching numerous personal records, the coroner’s office staff have been unable to locate any of Gallardo’s relatives.

“Locating immediate family members is a necessary process in order for the Coroner’s Unit to release the body and allow the person to have a proper burial,” the coroner’s office said in a statement.
