ICE arrests suspect charged with Fresno hit-and-run that injured 4-year-old
A man charged with fleeing the scene after striking a young child with his car in Fresno has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Aman Kumar, 31, was taken into ICE custody on May 13 outside the county courthouse, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
DHS accuses Kumar of being an undocumented immigrant from India who came to the United States in 2023.
The hit-and-run occurred near Peach and Florence avenues on April 28.
Fresno police at the time said a 4-year-old boy was playing in a backyard before exiting through a gate and walking into a bike lane.
Cars traveling north on Peach stopped for the child, but Kumar attempted to circumvent the traffic by driving into the bike lane, ultimately striking the child, police said.
The child was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Kumar fled the scene; police said he was arrested April 29.
