Police make 27 alcohol-related arrests during 112th Clovis Rodeo

Police say 27 rodeo-goers were arrested due to alcohol-related antics during the five-day Clovis Rodeo.

The Clovis Police Department conducted the operation along with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control over the five-day event, an annual tradition for the city.

In addition to patrolling the event, officers also worked with bars to identify and arrest people presenting fake IDs.

Of the 27 arrests, five were for people presenting fake IDs. People verifying IDs at bars worked to alert officers of fraudulent ID cards, and the officers would then make contact.

One person was arrested for intoxicated driving. Others faced violations related to public intoxication or underage drinking.

The 112th Clovis Rodeo took place April 22-26. Last year, the rodeo was only four days and yielded a total of 22 alcohol-related arrests, police said.
