An attic fire next to a 7-Eleven prompted a two-alarm response Thursday afternoon in Fresno.

Crews with the Fresno Fire Department responded to the blaze just after 2 p.m. to the corner of Ashlan and Blackstone avenues.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from a building connected to the 7-Eleven, according to Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Bob Camp.

Crews soon discovered fire and smoke in the attic.

Workers had already evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters contained the blaze to a vacant barber shop, preventing it from spreading to the 7-Eleven and other neighboring businesses despite winds, Camp said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
