A 53-year-old Kerman man died Saturday in a suspected DUI crash west of Fresno.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash at 5:10 p.m. at Kearney Boulevard, west of Dickenson Avenue.

CHP said a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling west on Kearney at a high rate of speed before veering south and leaving the road.

The front right of the Malibu crashed into a palm tree on the south shoulder.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified Monday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Braulio Gonzalez Amayo, 53, of Kerman.

CHP said alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the crash.

Authorities are investigating the collision.
