A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Thursday in Fresno.
Officers responded to the collision around 10:30 p.m. at Ashlan and Blackstone avenues and found the pedestrian lying on the roadway, Fresno police Lt. Alfonso Castillo said.
The pedestrian, who is 55-60 years old, was taken to a local hospital and was listed in serious condition.
Castillo said the vehicle was going westbound on Ashlan, going at the speed limit, when the pedestrian in all-dark clothing crossed the south lanes and was hit.
The driver stopped and was cooperative.
“What I would like to remind the public is when you’re driving, as this driver did, make sure if you happen to be in an accident, always pull over, wait for authorities, drive within the speed limit,” Castillo said.
“If you’re walking, be very careful, use those crosswalks. Don’t try to beat a car across the street like that. It’s always dangerous. It’s not going to be good.”
