Edison Bethune Charter Academy honors Corday Brown's memory at flag football game

Edison Bethune Charter Academy had a flag football game on Thursday afternoon with many thinking of 10-year-old Corday Brown, who was killed by a vehicle at a highway off-ramp.

Prior to the game against Sunset Elementary, the school presented Cortney Brown, Corday’s father, with two picture frames - one with a framed jersey and another with a smiling Corday.

Hundreds gathered Monday night to pay respects to Brown, including when balloons were released.

Sunset ran a play and took a knee to honor Brown.

Cortney Brown said his son meant a lot to him and the family.

“I’ve seen potential, character, spirit and I’ve seen his mom inside of him,” he said. “She was a loving person, too. I see that only in him. From her, too, and from me. He respected everybody. I taught him manners and everything. He said yes ma’am, no ma’am to everybody. He just smiled all the time.
