A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night while walking with a child on a Fresno street.

Officers were enroute at 9:06 a.m. to Marks and Ashcroft avenues and found an adult pedestrian lying on the roadway.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and given CPR, and is listed in critical condition, Fresno Police Lt. Marcus Gray II said.

The child, age 9 or 10, was not hit by the vehicle but had minor injuries from the collision.

Gray said the pedestrian was crossing outside of the roadway while the vehicle was traveling southbound on Marks approaching Ashlan when the collision occurred.

The driver remained on scene and was cooperative and is being treated for unrelated injuries to the collision. Alcohol and drugs don’t appear to be a factor.

Officers remained on scene to investigate the collision.
