Pedestrian ID’d by coroner in Fresno County collision. Driver remained on scene

CHP

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the woman who was struck by a vehicle on June 23.

Thongkhan Phanthavong, 45, of Fresno was struck when a Toyota Tundra, driven by a 20-year-old man from Clovis, was traveling eastbound on Shields Avenue when Phanthavong crossed the roadway from north to south in front of the approaching vehicle.

CHP said the driver was unable to avoid the collision and struck Phanthavong at 9:45 p.m.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the officers.

Impairment is not suspected on the part of the driver, but CHP said Phanthavong may have been under the influence.

The collision remains under investigation.
