FoodsCo loading dock fire in Fresno prompts evacuation. Store employee injured

A fire broke out Thursday night on the loading dock of a FoodsCo in Fresno, forcing an evacuation of the grocery store and injuring an employee.

The Fresno Fire Department responded to the fire at Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Chestnut Avenue around 10:45 p.m.

Crews arrived and were able to extinguish the blaze.

A FoodsCo employee sustained second-degree burns and suffered from smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

It was unknown Friday if the victim was taken to the hospital.

The fire is under investigation.

At least five fire engines responded to the scene. Crews used fans to blow the smoke out of the store as employees waited outside to go back in.
