Update: 2 dead, 2 injured in two-vehicle crash in Fresno County, CHP says. Victims ID’d

Two people died and two people were injured Thursday night in a two-vehicle collision in Fresno County west of Fresno.

The fatal crash happened at 9:06 p.m. at McKinley and Westlawn avenues, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Joseph Bianchi said.

According to Bianchi, a Honda Civic was traveling north on Westlawn and a Chevrolet truck was going west on McKinley when the driver of the Civic ran a stop sign and was broadsided by the truck.

The right front passenger in the Civic was pronounced dead. She was 20 years old, CHP said. She was identified by the coroner as Skye Banda of Selma.

The driver of the Civic was taken to a local hospital with major injuries. In an update Friday morning, CHP said the 22-year-old driver later died at the hospital. The coroner identified the driver as Isac Gomez of Fresno.

A 70-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman in the truck had minor to moderate injuries, Bianchi said.

CHP is investigating the crash and it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
