Man seriously injured after he was shot by unknown suspect in Fresno, police say

A man was shot in the upper body Thursday morning in a Fresno neighborhood.

Police said the shooting took place shortly before 2:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of West White Avenue, near Belmont Avenue when the victim told officers he was shot by an unknown suspect, Fresno police Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said.

The man was taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition, Trueba Vega said.

The motive for the shooting is unknown as detectives are gathering evidence at the crime scene.
