A man in his 80s was killed Friday afternoon after a collision in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision happened at 1:31 p.m. at Elkhorn and Marks avenues near Caruthers between a truck and a semi-truck.

CHP said the truck driver was pulling onto the street from the Elkhorn Market when the semi, which was going westbound on Elkhorn Avenue, tried to avoid the truck but collided.

The collision caused the semi to overturn and was filled with almonds.

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead. His wife was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, along with the semi driver, CHP said.
