The California Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run fatal crash in Fresno Saturday night.

CHP Sgt. Jarrod Banta said the fatal happened at 7:55 p.m. on the Golden State Boulevard on-ramp towards Highway 99.

Officers arrived and found a woman lying on the road after an unknown vehicle struck the victim. A witness told the CHP it was a pickup attached to a trailer, but “we’re still not sure about that or if that was another vehicle,” Banta said.

Banta believes the victim was unhoused and her identity is unknown pending identification from the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Banta said traffic was coming through after the collision and it’s “possible” other vehicles may have struck the victim since the area is not lit.
