Update: 55-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash into orchard ID’d by Fresno coroner

A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 3:10 p.m. on Dinuba Avenue, west of Fowler Avenue.

CHP spokesperson Mike Salas said the 55-year-old man was riding a Honda motorcycle eastbound when he lost control , allowing it to veer off the south edge of the roadway.

The motorcycle struck a tree in an orchard, causing the rider to sustain critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Mike Wasson, a resident of Fresno County, the coroner’s office said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Salas said.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs was a factor.
