Will it rain in Fresno on Thanksgiving? Here’s the latest forecast for holiday weekend

Will it rain in Fresno on Thanksgiving? That’s one of the questions on locals’ minds as Turkey Day approaches.

The week will start off with showers, according to the National Weather Service.

“Excessive rainfall” was expected on Monday and Tuesday in much of the San Joaquin Valley, the National Weather Service said in an X post

However, the risks of rapid onset flooding in and around Fresno due to rainfall were “marginal” to “slight,” according to the post.

What’s the latest weather forecast for Fresno?

On Tuesday, there was a 100% chance of rain in Fresno with precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible, according to the National Weather Service’s latest seven-day forecast.

“The heaviest rain is pretty much going to be Monday night at 10 p.m. to Tuesday at 9 a.m.,” National Weather Service meteorologist Mikal Montgomery told The Fresno Bee.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature near 57 degrees and an overnight low temperature around 48 degrees.

Clouds will persist on Wednesday,which will have a high near 55 and a low around 44.

There will be a 30% chance of rain before 10 a.m. Tuesday, the weather service said.

“After the storm moves out Wednesday morning, we should have a pretty dry pattern,” Montgomery said.

Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, will be partly sunny with a high near 57 and an overnight low around 46, the weather service said.

There’s a 20% chance of rain after 10 p.m.

“it’s going to be pretty chilly through the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Antoinette Serrato, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

She said high temperatures will be mid to high 50s and low temperatures will be in the high 30s and low 40s.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 57 and an overnight low around 46. There’s a 20% chance of rain.

The sun will be back on Saturday with a high near 60 and a low around 45.

On Sunday, you can expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 62.

How much rain has fallen in November so far?

According to the National Weather Service, the Fresno area has experienced a wetter-than-average November so far.

For the time period of Nov. 25 through Nov. 30, Fresno was about 120% to 190% over the monthly normal amount of precipitation, Montgomery said, although he did not give exact rainfall amounts. “This is very abnormal for this time of the month.”

“Last year was a bit drier,” Montgomery said.
