Woman drowns in rafting accident in Fresno County. The boat capsized, deputies say

River Drowning

A woman drowned Saturday afternoon at a river in Fresno County.

Deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s responded to Kings River near Reedley about 3:30 p.m. of reports of a raft that capsized with people on it, Lt. Frances Devins said.

The Search and Rescue team arrived and were searching for the 60-year-old missing woman, along with Cal Fire and the Reedley Police Department.

A drone was used to search for the woman before her body was recovered at 6:30 p.m., Devins said.

Devins said the woman wasn’t wearing a floating device and advised anyone who enters the water to be prepared.
