Second teenager has died after being pulled from Fresno pool. Her sister also drowned
A second teenager has died after being pulled from a Fresno pool on July 3.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed Wednesday that 13-year-old Hannah Gonzalez Saltos died at the hospital July 8. She had been taken there by emergency personal who responded to the incident in the backyard of a home near Shields and Fowler avenues.
The coroner’s office had already confirmed the drowning death of her 14-year-old sister, Mia Gonzalez Saltos, in the same incident.
Both were from Ivanhoe in Tulare County.
Authorities have released little information about an investigation, so it is unclear why the girls were at the home or what lead to the drownings.
Other drownings in the area
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has been warning the public about water safety as the temperatures rise and people look for ways to stay cool.
So far, there have been 10 drownings in Fresno County this season, including the Gonzalez Saltos sisters.
Three people have died on the San Joaquin River, including a 15-year-old boy from San Jose. One person drown in Shaver Lake, one in Millerton Lake, two in other ponds and one more in a canal, the sheriff’s office said.
