Pedestrian killed by truck, Sanger police say. He was identified as a 10-year-old boy

A 10-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a car in Sanger was identified Friday, according to police and the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

The boy was a pedestrian on Cherry Avenue just east of Bethel Avenue about 6:20 p.m. Thursday when he was hit by a Chevrolet truck, police said Friday.

The coroner said he was Jameson Doyle, 10, of Sanger. The coroner’s office initially identified him as 11.

Police said they attempted life-saving efforts at the scene but were unable to save the boy.

The truck driver stayed at the scene, according to Sanger police. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision, which was near Rotary Ball Park.

“The primary cause of the collision has yet to be determined, and the investigation into this incident is ongoing,” Sanger police said in a news release.
