Teen killed in single-vehicle crash in Fresno identified. Three others had major injuries

A teenager who was killed in a crash Sunday morning has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

He was as 17-year-old Ramiro Martinez of Fresno.

Police said the crash happened just before 4 a.m. on McKinley Avenue near West Avenue.

Officers responded and found a vehicle that had four people, with the driver and a passenger ejected.

Police said Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three occupants were taken to a local hospital with major injuries.

Police said the vehicle was traveling east on McKinley from Golden State Boulevard at a high rate of speed when witnesses told officers that the vehicle lost control, crossed the railroad tracks and began to slide in a northeast direction before striking a telephone pole and entering a ponding basin.

The vehicle struck a tree where it came to rest, police said.

It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor, police said.
