CalFire

Cal Fire is investigating a fatal fire involving a recreational vehicle, an early-morning blaze that happened in Fresno County.

Deputies responded to the fire that started just about 5 a.m. Saturday at the Millerton Mobile Home Park, located at 17000 block of Friant Road, 5 miles from Millerton Lake, after receiving multiple calls about a RV that was ablaze.

Cal Fire crews also arrived at the scene, quickly put out the fire and in a search found the bodies of two people, Fresno County Sheriff’s Lt. Frances Devins said.

The incident is under “active investigation with fatalities,” Cal Fire stated, and “we cannot comment on the cause.”

Cal Fire said the initial reports indicated there were multiple exposures and the RV was vacant.

Eleven firefighters were on scene battling the fire including assistance from Fresno Fire.

The coroner is investigating the manner of death for the two people, Devins said.

A space heater was found inside the RV, she said.
