Man killed in a two-car crash in Fresno County, CHP says. A vehicle spun out of control
A driver was killed Thursday morning after a collision with another vehicle in Fresno County.
The collision took place at 6:40 a.m. at Highway 180, west of Monroe Avenue.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Salas said a Toyota Tacoma truck was traveling westbound on Highway 180, west of Monroe Avenue, when the driver allowed his vehicle to drift into the eastbound lane directly into the path of oncoming traffic.
The driver veered sharply to the right avoiding the approaching traffic, but caused Toyota to enter the north shoulder of Highway 180 where he attempted to regain control and steered sharply to the left twice before crossing the westbound lane and entering the eastbound lane.
Salas said the Toyota spun out of control and collided with a Ford F-450 utility truck, driven by a 60-year-old man.
The Ford collided with the driver side of the Toyota in the eastbound lane. The Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was not injured, Salas said.
The fatal collision is under investigation, but it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor, Salas said.
