A pedestrian in his 30s was struck by a vehicle Saturday night near the entrance of Community Regional Medical Center.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. when a white van was traveling northbound on Maddy Drive to make a left turn to go west on Divisadero, Lt. Zeb Price said.

As the driver made the turn, the pedestrian was in the roadway crossing the street from north to south when he was struck.

Nurses came to the aid of the pedestrian and was taken to the hospital.

He was listed in critical condition, Price said.

The driver remained on scene and was cooperating.

Police did not suspect alcohol or drugs in the collision. Price said the pedestrian was in the crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Officers were on the scene for several hours to investigate.
