A missing mother and 5-year-old from the Fresno area have been found safe in New Mexico, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Savanna Leavitt, 27, and Ezekiel Hooten, 5, had last been seen Friday in Auberry in the eastern Fresno County foothills, according to deputies.

A sheriff’s deputy in Catron County, New Mexico, located the two of them after her vehicle ran out of gas on Monday, a spokesperson said.

Both were said to be in good health and officials were working to reunite them with family, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
