Two people were killed Friday night after a speeding vehicle crashed into a tree in north Fresno.
Fresno police and other emergency crew personnel responded around 9:30 p.m. to a crash that occurred a few blocks north of the intersection of Champlain Drive and Friant Road.
There was a fire that broke out on the street near Rice Road and Friant Road, which is more of an exact location of where the crash took place. The Fresno Fire Department went on to extinguish the fire.
Cause of the crash remains under investigation, however, Fresno police said the vehicle was traveling at a high-rated speed.
Friant Road was closed off in the area with northbound traffic being diverted onto Champlain Drive.
