Motorcycle rider who struck Fresno highway wall and fell about 70 feet, named by coroner
The motorcycle rider who died after being thrown over a highway wall in Fresno and falling about 70 feet was identified Friday.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office said Donnell Dudley, 30, of Fresno died Thursday in the crash into a retaining wall on Highway 180 as it transitions into Highway 41 headed south.
California Highway Patrol received a report of a person lying in the center divider before 7 a.m. Thursday near the interchange of 180 and 41, a spokesperson said.
Dudley was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he was pronounced dead by personnel at the hospital, CHP said.
CHP said he was headed west on 180 onto the elevated area as it transitions into Highway 41 south before striking the retaining wall.
Dudley and the bike went over the wall and fell 60 to 70 feet down the embankment of 180, CHP said.
The investigation was ongoing and preliminary, CHP said. It was not yet clear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the fatal crash.
