Motorcycle rider killed after striking highway wall in Fresno, CHP says. He was thrown
A motorcycle rider was found dead in an apparent crash on a Fresno highway interchange, the California Highway Patrol said Thursday.
Officers received a report about a person lying in the center divider before 7 a.m. Thursday near the interchange of Highway 180 and Highway 41, CHP officer Mike Salas said.
The man was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno and was pronounced dead by personnel at the hospital, CHP said.
Officers believe the rider was headed west on 180 onto the elevated area as it transitions into Highway 41 south before striking the retaining wall, sending the motorcycle and rider over the wall and down the embankment of 180, Salas said.
The investigation was ongoing and preliminary, Salas said. It was not yet clear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the fatal crash.
