A man is in the hospital Saturday afternoon with a major hand injury after he was involved in a two-vehicle collision in northwest Fresno.

Fresno Police Lt. Charlie Chamalbide said the crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. at North Santa Fe and Herndon avenues.

Chamalbide said the man was driving on North Santa Fe when one of the vehicles veered into another lane, triggering the collision.

The collision caused the man’s vehicle to overturn for more than 100 yards.

During the rollover, the man lost several fingers, Chamalbide said. Officers weren’t able to locate the digits.

The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and listed in stable condition. The other driver wasn’t injured.

Alcohol and drugs were not a factor, police said.
