Four Fresno County staff members were injured Thursday morning while trying to restore power to several buildings.

The incident was reported just after 5:30 a.m. at the University Medical Center at 4441 East Kings Canyon Road, after power went out at buildings 319 and Modular in A, B and C, county spokeswoman Sonja Dosti said in an email around 12:30 p.m.

An employee was trying to diagnose the outage when the incident occurred, injuring the employee and three others.

One employee provided self-care while the other three — all conscious — were taken to Community Regional Medical Center. They were listed in stable condition.

Security officers told staff that there was a man on top of the building and he was later detained. The man was cited by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office for trespassing then released.

It’s unknown if the man had any connection to the power outage, Dosti said.

The county buildings remained impacted by the power outage and staff was working to find other locations to provide services for the short term while the outage was investigated, Dosti said.
