22-year-old killed riding skateboard ID’d by Fresno coroner. An officer saw the collision

A man on a skateboard who was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday evening in Fresno County was identified Sunday by the coroner.

Martin Garcia Mendoza, 22, was killed just before 7:30 p.m. at Highway 43 and East Conejo Avenue, about four miles west of Kingsburg.

CHP said a Dodge sedan was traveling south on Highway 43 when the man on the skateboard, who was on Conejo Avenue, went across the highway and directly into the path of the car.

Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said.

A CHP officer was at the scene at the time and witnessed the fatal collision.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected in the collision.
