CHP

A woman killed early Sunday after she was thrown from a car after it slammed into a wall on the north side of Selma was identified Tuesday by the Fresno County Coroner.

Kassandra Gaona, 24, died shortly after 4 a.m. when the Kia Soul driven by a 23-year-old man went out of control and hit a utility pole, then a parked car before slamming into the concrete retaining wall. Both the driver and Gaona were thrown from the vehicle, the CHP reported.

Both occupants were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where Gaona died.

Neither the Coroner nor the CHP provided information about Gaona’s city of residence.
